Together these remarkable teachers have 70 years of wisdom and experience.

DORITA BETTS BORGERSON, Director and Teacher

Dorita has worked with children and youth for more than 25 years, educating and inspiring toddlers though teenagers with a range of activities from indoor crafts and STEM to outdoor camping adventures. 

Her experience includes summer counselor and dean, volunteer AHS volleyball coach, classroom volunteer. She is skilled at group building, reflections and mindfulness, and “unplugged” creative play activities. She also loves hiking and entertaining all ages with her wacky puppet, Sherman.


Alayha McNamara

ALAYHA MCNAMARA, Teacher  

Alayha is passionate about being a conduit for young people to find their inner power. She has over 15-years of experience working with youth. Alayha’s background is in theater, dance, and yoga. She is passionate about teaching theater and yoga to children. 

Alayha’s theater program was created to facilitate body awareness and confidence in the modern-day young artist. She has studied and taught physical theater all over the world, and in Oregon, Seattle, Austria, Berlin and the Ukraine.  Alayha regularly teaches in her hometown of Ashland Oregon, and strives to bring international, interracial, and differently-abled people together through the neutral platform of physical theater.


Carol Heisel

CAROL HEISEL, Resident Artist

Carol has been teaching in the public schools in the Rogue Valley over 30 years, including substituting and volunteering at Walker School. One of her great joys is providing art experiences for children and seeing the expression on the children’s faces and their confidence when they share their work. In her free time Carol enjoys watercolor painting and quilting.
