Welcome to Creative Connections!

An After-School Enrichment Program

Our program offers after-school enrichment for students K-5. Our mission is to provide students challenging and fun ways to express their creativity and develop new skills across a variety of areas, including art, recreation, and science and engineering-oriented projects. In addition, the program focuses on nurturing intuitive thinking, mindfulness and cooperative relationships in the context of universal core moral values. Creative Connections complements and expands academic learning, enabling students to explore their passions, creativity and interests outside the regular school day.

Meet Our Educators

  • Dorita Betts Borgerson, Director

Dorita has worked with children and youth for more than 25 years, educating and inspiring toddlers through teenagers with a range of activities from indoor crafts to outdoor camping adventures.  Her experience includes summer camp counselor and dean, volunteer AHS volleyball coach, and long-time classroom volunteer at Walker School. She is skilled at group-building, reflection and mindfulness, and ‘unplugged’ creative play activities. She also loves cycling, hiking and entertaining all ages with her wacky puppet, Sherman.

  • Kim brunner, Assistant director

Kim has been an educator since graduating from West Chester University in Pennsylvania in 2009. She has a wide range of teaching experience, from infants to high school students. She was an elementary school teacher at Walker School for the past three years. At the Ashland School District, Kim served on a Science committee and attended trainings and workshops to support her passion of science in the classroom. She hopes to inspire young children to stay curious and discover the fascinating world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

  • Carol Heisel, Teacher

Carol has been teaching in the public schools in the Rogue Valley for over 30 years, including substituting and volunteering at Walker School. One of her greatest joys is providing art experiences for children. She loves to see the expressions on children’s faces and the boost in their confidence when they share their work. In her free time, Carol enjoys watercolor painting and pottery.
